Man is it looking TOUGH in it's flat black glory!!!!

I'm loving it I hate to admit it but those browns/golds or whatever just didn't get my heart racing. Can't wait to see the firesuit

You may not have seen the New Fire suit but Joe Nemechek sported it for the last few races of 2008.

I was lucky enough to be the one to design it. I was happy with it and Barney really liked it enough to have inspired his decision on the flat black car paint scheme for 2009. Check it out.

not to be rude or anything like that but is the new paint job suppose to make the car run faster? any news on who will drive the 78 car? .
put some flames on the car to make it look meaner! it looks a little pale to me. anyways good luck in 09 i am interested to see what the season will be like.

I like the firesuit a lot Good Job, the design on the back is eyecatching and would actually look good on the car vs flames. Everyone and their brother are doing flames. It's getting a little old and so copycat-ish. So what does the helmet look like? You know we, ok well ME can never get enough Hope you had your hand in on that also. Kudos.

Lot of work went into it. I think I had close to 20 variations before we decided on this one.

Sadly I did not get to do the helmet. Not sure what this years will look like yet.
May depend on the final driver choice. They all have preferences on style, fit etc so who ever it will be has more impact on the helmet itself.

The new paint job has a more aggressive look than before. Really good choice on the flat black!!

so just curious if you have ever watched a race on tv especially now in the new tv era where only dale jr gets on tv?? black car black track you will get even less exposure now than before do you pay attention to what cars stand out???? red, yellow, now i know people will say dale seniors car was black and jeffs car is gonna be black (with bright orange flames) do you guys out there do any research before making some of your decisions??? just curious as we will see even less of the car at the back of the 35 car feild now totally rookie moves man at least you could see the white browns and oranges in the rare occurance you got some FACE TIME GOOD LUCK IN O9 oh and why are you going to phoenix you have stunk there forever your schedual is a little wierd understand the restrictor plate but sonoma are you kidding me??????

Hey guys. I'm really excited about Regan Smith driving the #78 this year, I've been a fan of his for a couple years now. I wish you luck and will be cheering you guys on down in Daytona. I have to say, though, that I'm disappointed in the paint scheme for this year... it looks like it's going to be the flat black/brown car?

Anyway, I have a suggestion. Why not hold a contest for a paint scheme? There are tons of members of the sim racing painting community that would be more than happy to paint a car just to have it race on the track. Jeff Gordon and Pepsi had a similar deal where Gordon ran the car at Talladega in 2007. Even a contest for a one race deal would be cool - it would be nice to see some colors on the #78.

Sorry but you should go with gloss black. I saw the car on the Jayski site and thought it was the test car. Black was a good choice, it looks good on the Army car but not on the Furniture Row car. Good luck in 09!

Would you guys mind if i send you a fictional scheme? I love painting cars, and I have always wanted to paint a scheme for a real team.

We would love to see what people come up with but I tell ya I am fighting to design it too.

Barney himself wanted to do the flat black as well as the logo placements etc based on the fire suit I designed at the end of last season.

KUDOS ON THIS SEASON'S FIRESUITS...THEY'RE AWESOME!!! AND FORGET THE FLAMES ON THE CAR..ADD A LIGHTNING BOLT..'CAUSE FROM WHAT I HEAR, THE PITCREW IS FAST AND THE ENTIRE FRR TEAM IS GONNA "GET IT DONE" IN '09...GOOD LUCK IN DAYTONA!
