Furniture Row Racing's California Dreamin' Hindered by Inspection

Denver, CO-Furniture Row Racing's CUP program had high hopes for a good run at the California Speedway last Sunday. With a competitive 36th qualifying position secured, and seasoned driver Kenny Wallace behind the wheel, the team was in the show and ready to roll in their first open race.

However, the program faced a hurdle before they even got on the track, that hurdle, otherwise known as NASCAR inspection, negatively impacted the #78 car at Fontana.

Crew Chief Joe Garone explains, "Being a new team, without the benefit of owner's points, our pre-race inspection is unfortunately scheduled last. Getting through inspection is very time consuming, and this drastically cut into our practice time on the track. Having very little practice time when you're competing against the best of the best is going to impact your performance negatively.

Official NASCAR results of the Auto Club 500 place the team at 41st.On the up side, Garone states the team was excited to make the race, had impressive pit stops, and the engine performance was solid.

The checkered flag at California Speedway went to a surprised but elated Matt Kenseth.

Furniture Row Racing’s next opportunity to take to the track will be on March 12th at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
