Fire in the Night
Denver, CO- Furniture Row® Racing returns to where it all began, Daytona International Raceway this weekend.The #78 will be sporting a spectacular new iridescent red, white, and blue firecracker paint job for the Pepsi 400. The race is scheduled to run in the evening to provide the fans a reprieve from the heat.
Daytona’s 2.5 mile tri-oval super speedway is NASCAR most famous track touting a rich history. The Furniture Row® Racing program has developed a brief history of its own at Daytona. The previously acquired data will be exceptionally beneficial during qualifying.
Crew Chief Joe Garone is optimistic about qualifying.
Garone explains,
“Were excited about the next race and will have Kenny Wallace back in the car. This will be our third attempt at a super speedway race, and will be bringing the car Bill Elliott qualified with at the Daytona 500 earlier this year.”
Last weekend’s road course race at Infineon didn’t go as well as the team had expected. The #78 did not qualify with replacement driver Travis Kvapil taking over for Kenny Wallace. Garone said, “We had a fast car, but Travis lost control of it going into turn seven and couldn’t recover in time for the next three turns. Ultimately, we lost nearly 2 seconds from our 28th practice time of 78.31 qualifying a 79.98."
