Denver, CO- Phoenix has the potential to be Furniture Row® Racing's strongest race yet, according to Crew Chief Joe Garone. All of the team's hard work paid off at Richmond during testing for Phoenix.
Garone explains, "Our CUP times were twelfth overall of the fifty plus CUP cars testing. This gives us high hopes for qualifying well at Phoenix."
Driver Kenny Wallace has historically done well on short tracks. Garone anticipates Wallace's experience will lead to a strong qualifying run. "Kenny's always done well on short tracks, and if we can provide him with the equipment he needs, we should have a very successful weekend. "Phoenix International Raceway is an oddly shaped one-mile track. Instead of being a standard oval, Phoenix is shaped like a reverse "D". This is due to a decision by the track's owner not to alter the facility's road coarse to accommodate an oval.
Garone will do double duty this weekend serving as crew chief for Jerry Robertson in the Busch series as well. This is Robertson first appearance in the Furniture Row® Racing Busch series in 2006. Garone is enthusiastic about Robertson qualifying for the race. Garone states, "Jerry and I communicate very well, that's a big advantage."
